What Reviewing 50+ Podcast Episodes Taught Me About the Future of Trust

By Barbara Rozgonyi

I thought I was renaming a podcast. I was actually naming the work I’ve been doing all along.

When the world shifted in 2021, I launched Growing Social Now as a way to bridge a gap. I’d moved from Chicago/Glen Ellyn to Charlotte, and even though digital connection had always felt easy, the pause of the pandemic made that distance feel much bigger. Like so many of us, I started thinking about the relationships that built my life and my career. I thought about trusted colleagues from Chicago, friends from Social Media Club Chicago, peers from my Sears days, and the new community I was beginning to build here in North Carolina.

So I started inviting people into conversation.

What began as a practical idea, a podcast about marketing and social media, quickly became something much more meaningful.

Over more than 50 episodes, I was collecting a living record of how people build trust, shape reputation, and show up with purpose in a world that never stops changing.

And when I went back and reviewed those conversations, one realization stood out above everything else: the show was never really about growing social media.

It was about building a brighter presence.

It was about how leaders become known, how brands earn credibility, and how professionals create a reputation people remember. And now, as AI artificial intelligence changes the way people search, discover, and verify expertise, those human-centered ideas matter even more.

That is why Growing Social Now is becoming Brighter Presence™.

Not because the old name was wrong. Because the new name finally matches the depth of the work.

What I Kept Hearing

Looking back across all those conversations, I noticed a pattern: the people making the biggest impact were building trust.

That showed up in different ways across different topics. Some guests talked about leadership. Others focused on customer experience, relationships, AI, branding, community, cybersecurity, communications, psychology, public relations, and the future of work. Different industries. Different viewpoints. One common thread.

The strongest voices were usually the clearest ones. The most memorable ideas were the most useful ones. And the people who seemed most grounded were often the ones creating the most lasting influence.

That changed how I think about visibility now. It’s about being credible, helpful, and memorable in a world where technology never stops changing.

Conversations That Shaped the Philosophy

Jon Ferrara reminded us that real growth starts with real relationships. That truth never goes out of style.

Jeannie Walters showed how customer experience is built one moment at a time. Trust lives in the details.

Andy Crestodina pushed us to create original thinking, not just more content. That lesson matters even more in the age of AI.

David Meerman Scott helped connect the dots between classic PR principles and the new rules of modern visibility.

Stan Phelps made a powerful case for differentiation by embracing what makes you unusual. FLAWSOME is more than a clever framework. It is a mindset.

Beth Terpening reminded us that storytelling is one of the most human ways to move people from information to action.

Shawna Coronado shared a story of resilience, wellness, and reinvention that still stays with me.

Elly Deutch Moody demonstrated how social care and customer care belong together.

Ted Gregorek reminded us that sound quality is part of credibility. If people can’t hear you well, they can’t fully receive your message.

Barry Moltz brought the reminder that growth often begins with mindset long before it shows up in the market.

And, these guests also contributed their insights and wisdom: Amy Hesser, Allan Schoenberg, Andrea Owen, Bella Rose Mortel, Brandon Birkmeyer, Caleb Gardner, Chris McGuire, Daliah Saper, Dean Waye, Dianne Chase, Dr. Pauline Wallin, Elena Kacan, Finn Hodgins, Jasmin Haley, Katie McKiever, Larry Long Jr., Leslie Marshall, Lisa Sharapata, Marty M. Fahncke, Matt Shields, Michelle McKown-Campbell, Nicholas J. Love, Patrick Bernardi, Phoebe Svoboda, Sharon McIntosh, Sharon Phillips, Shelly Chandler, Stel Valavanis, Terry Brock, Jennifer Navarrete, and many others.

Every one of those conversations added another layer to the bigger picture. Some talked about visibility. Some talked about leadership. Some talked about creativity, communication, trust, community, or technology.

But all of them, in their own way, helped reveal what Brighter Presence™ is really about.

Why This Matters Now

As I listened back, I realized these episodes captured some of the biggest shifts in modern communication, from social media’s explosive rise to the arrival of AI.

That’s what makes this next chapter feel so right. Brighter Presence™ gives me room to talk about visibility, executive presence, thought leadership, AI, public relations, storytelling, marketing, leadership, photography, creativity, and the human side of communication without fitting everything into a social media frame.

For CEOs, executives, entrepreneurs, keynote speakers, association leaders, marketers, and thought leaders, the real question is no longer just, “How do I get seen?”

It is: How do I become easier to find, natural to trust, and impossible to ignore?

That’s the question Brighter Presence™ is here to explore.
